Counseling Services

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, research indicates that mental health conditions affect tens of millions of people each year. Of those, it is estimated that only half of those individuals seek treatment. In 2022, it is estimated that 59.3 million adults in the U.S. dealt with a mental, behavioral or emotional disorder.  The counselors at Townhall II Integrated Health Network are here to help anyone being challenged with any mental illness.

Compounding the mental health challenges facing our communities, an estimated 40.3 million Americans aged 12 and older have a substance use disorder (SUD). SUDs are affected by an array of physical and behavioral health factors. Our holistic approach to health, wellness and recovery does not just include counseling services. We provide access to peer support groups and case management supervisors to help guide you through your experiences and so you have people to rely on as you work through your recovery. The best part is that you become an active member in your treatment team.

We are here for you because we know that treatment does work and people do recover!

We strive to eliminate barriers for clients to get the help they need. We offer free childcare during group sessions and bus passes to get to our building. We accept insurance and base services off a sliding scale.

Please note, blood work needs to be completed and given to us before we are able to prescribe Vivitrol and medical history will be needed prior to any prescriptions are given.

Mothers in Recovery

Let’s Talk About It is a support group that brings mothers in recovery together twice a month to talk about the issues only other mothers in the same situation would understand. This space provides moms in recovery with a safe, understanding and judgment-free platform. The groups are mostly peer-led, with a family educator and case manager on hand to keep the conversations flowing in the right direction. Having staff on hand allows mothers to not only get support and encouragement from their peers, but resources from area professionals as well. As needed, educational components are added to fit the group’s needs. Some components that have already been introduced include discipline, parenting techniques, communication, conflict resolution and legal assistance.

We offer family dinners and free childcare during the program each night. Our hope is that this will eliminate barriers for attendance and make it possible for interested moms to find time for the group.

Problem Gambling

In 2022, prior to sports betting becoming legal in Ohio, the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services’ Office of Quality, Planning and Research, in conjunction with the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County, conducted the Ohio Gambling Survey.

The results showed that 19.8 percent of Ohioans are at low risk, moderate risk, or are already classified as a problem gambler. The prevalence of problem gambling was determined to be at 2.8 percent of the state’s population, or 254,729 individuals out of 9.19 million adults. In Portage County problem gambling impacts 4,500 people, which is 2.8 percent of the county’s population of 162,000.

One may expect those numbers will increase significantly with sports betting now legal in the state.

To address the prevalence of problem gambling, Townhall II offers individual and group counseling.

  • Services are provided by licensed gambling counselors who use evidence-based practices in gambling addiction treatment.
  • Services are tailored to the individual to meet their specific goals for treatment. For some people, that is stopping gambling altogether. For others, gambling responsibly is the goal.
  • Individual counseling is available in person or via telehealth.
  • A state-wide Problem Gambling counseling group meets once a week via Zoom. Meetings take place Mondays, 6-8 p.m.

If you would like to talk to a counselor, join the Problem Gambling Group or make a referral, please call 330-678-3006.
